Herniated Discs
A herniated disc is a common injury that can affect any part of the spine although most herniated disc are in the lower back or neck. Cracks in a disk’s exterior may allow some of the soft inner material to escape and press on the spinal cord or nerves. Although age can be a factor, additional causes of herniated disc may include trauma to the spine, lifting injuries and straining. Symptoms may include tingling, numbness, weakness in muscles served by the affected nerve, and pain.
